My name is Juan and when I was only a few months old I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, an adult leukaemia, yes, but the fact is that, although I am very small, I am actually very big.
I was admitted on 17 November and on 31 December I was allowed to go home to welcome the New Year with my siblings, although I returned to the hospital every day for blood tests and transfusions. I was in the day hospital where I was admitted every 4-5 weeks for chemo and after a few months I was given the last session. I’m such a friendly baby that all the nurses love me to bits, they all took such good care of me!
I am as strong as an elephant, and a year later, although with my ups and downs, I am doing well, enjoying my family, laughing with my brothers and sisters, and playing all the time. In short, I’m enjoying being a child.
I thank my family for being by my side and making me laugh, and I thank everyone who has accompanied my parents throughout this process. Above all, I would like to thank the Josep Carreras Foundation and all the Unstoppables who have accompanied me.
Juan
