On the 28th of June, at the international meeting of donor registries held in South Africa, the Josep Carreras Foundation received the Full Standard accreditation for the REDMO Project from the World Marrow Donor Association. This important award gives added value to our Foundation and opens up numerous opportunities and benefits that will help us to improve the fulfilment of our mission and objectives.

  1. Guarantee of quality and trust: WMDA’s Full Standard accreditation is an international recognition that certifies that we comply with the highest standards of quality in the management of bone marrow and cord blood donors. This quality seal demonstrates that our operational processes are rigorous and in line with international best practices, guaranteeing the safety and well-being of both donors and patients. Furthermore, it generates confidence in our donors, patients, families and collaborating centres.
  2. Access to resources and the global network: being part of the WMDA gives us access to international collaboration, facilitating the exchange of information and records and a significant increase in the likelihood of finding compatible donors for patients all over the world in the shortest possible time. On the other hand, we have access to training and updating programmes that improve the skills and training of our team.
  3. Improved efficiency and effectiveness: accreditation promotes the continuous improvement of our processes through the implementation of recommended practices that increase operational efficiency, reducing time and costs and facilitating a system of constant monitoring and evaluation that ensures continuous improvement and rapid adaptation to our challenges and opportunities.
  4. Recognition and positioning: having Full Standard accreditation improves our positioning and reputation, obtaining international recognition as a benchmark in the field of bone marrow donation on a global scale, increasing our visibility and prestige.

Furthermore, this accreditation enhances the prestige of the Josep Carreras Foundation in the eyes of national institutions, consolidating our position of excellence and facilitating the possibility of obtaining support and collaboration from other relevant organisations.

In short, the WMDA’s Full Standards accreditation is not only a sign of quality and a commitment to excellence, but it is also a strategic tool that strengthens our mission and capacity to help patients who need a transplant while safeguarding the rights and welfare of our donors. That is why we will work to maintain and strengthen this accreditation, thus ensuring that our organisation continues to be a pillar of hope and life for many.

Its positive impact is reflected in the confidence and security of our donors and patients, in the efficiency of our processes and in our global positioning.
